Until 2006 Annie and Hugh Laughton of Shropshire Fine Herbs were supplying fresh herbs to local restaurants. Looking to add value to the herbs, Annie with her background as a chef created a range of oatmeal biscuits using our own fresh herbs.

Initially the biscuits were made in our farmhouse kitchen with sales to local farm shops and delis but word spread and soon we realised that there was an unfilled niche in the market for handmade cheese biscuits. The range was developed with helpful members of the cheese trade to ensurethat the varieties fully compliment and never 'over power' the cheeses. |

The ethos of the company has always been to use the very best ingredients and wherever possible to buy locally. While the biscuits are not sold as organic we use organic flour and oatmeal from Pimhill Organic Farm in Shropshire as theirs is the best we could find. We use our own herbs fresh to ensure subtlety and freshness of flavour and our other ingredients are proper butter and milk, cracked black pepper and Halen Mon Sea Salt Crystals from Anglesey. We will never use GM ingredients, artificial colourings, flavourings or preservatives, palm oil or anything that we would rather not eat ourselves. |

Following IFE in 2007 we required far greater capacity so converted a row of stables into a purpose built bakery. With help from North Shropshire District Council we purchased rollers, ovens and a flow wrap machine and in late 2008 took on a full time team of bakers and packers. |

2009 has been the year of Private Label and having achieved our Organic Certification we are now making exciting ranges for some of the most prestigious names in fine food retailing. |
